What is Stress?

According to a recent EU study, one in three Europeans suffers from some degree of stress. Stress is a syndrome that arises when we lack the ability to live up to our expectations and to those of our surroundings. Long-term stress due in most part to our hectic, modern lifestyles causes our bodies to produce excessive amounts of stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. High levels of these stress hormones over prolonged periods of time may cause fatigue and chronic illness. Our body’s stress reaction is activated when our stress limit is surpassed, a term known as frustration- or stress-tolerance.
